Theophilus Afelokhai is captain and first-choice goalkeeper of Nigerian champions, Kano Pillars.

Since joining Pillars from defunct Kano based Buffalo, Afelokhai has seized the position in-between the sticks and has become a favourite of the partisan Kano fans.

Call him the symbol of the club and you won't be wrong as Afelokhai has assumed a cult figure at the club.

In 2012, he was voted Best Goalkeeper in the Nigeria Premier League by the influential League Bloggers Awards (LBA) and in March 2013, won the first Player of the Month Award by the LBA.

The feat makes him the first goalkeeper to win the LBA Monthly award.

Interestingly, he is the first goalkeeper to captain the famous Kano side founded in 1990 following the amalgation of three Kano based amateur clubs.

Afelokhai is a former Under23 international and targets a place in the Super Eagles ahead of the 2014 Caf CHAN tournament for players in the African leagues.
