Voted Best Goalkeeper in the Nigeria Premier League in 2012 by the influential League Bloggers Award (LBA), Theophilus Afelokhai, has continued to maintain his top-class performance in-between the sticks for the famous Kano Pillars.

In the same year (2012), he made the influential SuperSport.com Nigeria Premier League Best XI for conceding the least number of goals – 26.

It’s no surprise that he’s captain of the famous Kano side, a club he led to win the Nigeria title in 2012.
He was also in goal when the club won its first-ever league title in 2008 and posted impressive outings in the 2009 Caf Champions League.

The former Under23 international is one of the most popular players in the domestic league and wormed his way into the hearts of the partisan Kano fans for his "outstanding shot-stopping" ability.
Afelokhai made his name with defunct Kano side, Buffalo, owned by the French Teacher, Luc Lagouche.
The goalkeeper was part of history as the club played in all divisions in Nigeria’s football structure (Amateur 3, Amateur 2, Amateur 1 and Professional League now Nigeria National League).
As a key figure for Buffalo, it wasn’t difficult for Kano Pillars to snatch him from other suitors in the land.
